When a support request is registered a case with Case # is registered in our customer registration system. We use this Case # to track all correspondence.

It makes it a lot easier if all correspondence is sent to support@tordivel.no with the Case # in subject of the e-mail.

Most support situation occur due to the following:

  • Most error can be avoided by working in the toolbox
  • Advice try to isolate the error and reproduce in an offline Scorpion profile
    • This gives us at support a head start in finding a solution
• Errors in Scorpion Plugins, ActiveX or other subsystems
  • Scorpion is an open framework and can be affected by other parts of the computer system.
• Keep in mind that many error systems are just symptoms or a consequence of an error

Scorpion Vision Software is a development framework. It is the profile developer that is responsible for testing and verification of the Vision Solution. This requires a elaborate and step by step development and verification of the system so that errors are avoided and isolated. This process requires the skill and knowledge where the limitations and the good features of the computer, the operating system, the camera setup and Scorpion Vision Software is used in way that the systems become a stable and reliable system.

  • Number of stops pr week
• Check System Log and console window for error messages
  • Report the following
    • No errors

  •  Note: Remember to activate Scorpion to display errors
• Scorpion Profile demonstrating the error situation

1. Copy the installer to the stick
2. Run the installer for a memory stick
3. Press the download all button
• Wait while is files is downloaded
• A subdirectory containing all files in the installer needs is then created

The next time you run the installer from the memory stick if will then use the already downloaded files in offline mode.

The subdirectory can also be copied to a cd to create a CD version of the installer.

It is also easy to create a Memory Stick that both support two Scorpion version – copy the two installers to the same directory and run download in both installer and the combined set of installation files will then be downloaded to create the combined installation set.

The following points apply when you upgrade your existing Scorpion Vision Software solution to 9.0:

• Version 9.0 will not accept any previous licenses.
• Licenses purchased after July 1, 2011 can be upgraded free of charge before December 31, 2011.
• Upgrades must be purchased from Tordivel AS.
• When installing Scorpion on  computer running a previous version – a new program directory …\…\Scorpion 9 is created.
  • The user can thus choose to run Scorpion 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8 and 9 on the upgraded computer.
  • Multiple versions of Scorpion can coexist on the same computer.
• Profiles created by previous version  are manually transferred to Scorpion 9.0 profile directory using file copy or Scorpion restore / backup functions.
  • Scorpion will automatically migrate the profile to version 8.0 when started.
  • Note that the default Scorpion 9.0 profile directory is located under MyDocuments.

• In the XML you can edit, replace and change every aspect of the SPB

Since Windows 7 was released last October I’ve read lots of articles about the right and wrong way to measure and manage the physical memory on your system. Much of it is well-meaning but just wrong.
